Phoenix Museum of History
Located in Downtown Copper Square at the Heritage & Science Park, the Phoenix Museum of History has a well preserved collection of exhibits on the early history of Phoenix. Interactive and educational exhibits showcasing Phoenix’s transformation from a sandy desert city to a contemporary capital, the museum has something for the visitors of all ages.
Heard Museum
Dedicated to Native American art and culture, this renowned museum hosts an extensive collection of historic and contemporary art exhibits. It is open daily and holds special performances by dancers and artists.
Heritage Square
Dating back to the as long as 1880s, these collections of historic structures were part of Phoenix's original constructions, and these included the Victorian Rosson House, Carriage House and the Arizona Doll & Toy Museum.
Phoenix Art Museum
Phoenix Art Museum features over 16,000 works and is the largest in the Southwest. It features collection of American, Asian, Latin American, European, Contemporary, and Western American art and fashion design.
Arizona Science Center
Located in downtown Phoenix, Arizona Science Center is the favorite to all the kid tourists. Although this place is designed for visitors of all ages, special emphasis was given on children’s interest, with a vast range of hands-on exhibits, a food court, a planetarium, gift shop and large-screen theater.
Phoenix Zoo
One of the state’s largest non-profit zoological parks, Phoenix Zoo is home to more than 1,300 animals. These include more than 200 endangered and rare birds and reptiles from all over the world. The tourists can visit and explore the Zoo through four distinctive trails, namely Arizona Trail, Tropics Trail, Discovery Trail and Africa Trail.
Casa Grande Ruins National Monument
The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument consists of sixty prehistoric Hohokam sites. The main attraction is a 4-story earthen building which was built about 650 years ago. Tourists can opt for interpretive walking tours for this 400-yard round trip.
Desert Botanical Garden
Exhibiting and conserving of desert plant life, the Desert Botanical Garden is home to nearly 20,000 plants. The outdoor museum is more dedicated to plants native to the southwestern United States and Mexico.
Taliesin West
Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, this is a not to be missed destination by all architecture aficionados. This structure was home to the Frank Lloyd Wright for 20 years. It is a National Historic Landmark and a sacred destination for all the architecture students.
Deer Valley Rock Art Center
Deer Valley Rock Art Center exhibits a collection of rock sites with over 1,500 petroglyphs, nature & interpretive trails and a museum. Centuries ago, Native Americans traveled up till here to make tools and etch petroglyphs in basalt rocks lying in the middle of these hills.
Apache Trail
Apache Trail, a 48-mile route is an excellent scenic drive near Phoenix, as it twists along the Salt River, alongside a series of man-made lakes.
